The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing offers a unique combination of sessions focused on the latest in technology as well as career development.
Wednesday
This year’s conference kicks off with a day focused on building the career of your dreams. The highlights include: A keynote address from Shafi Goldwasser, winner of the 2012 ACM Turing Award Leadership Workshops led by Jo Miller, CEO of Women’s Leadership Coaching, Inc. and Denise Brosseau, speaker, coach and thought leadership consultant at the Thought Leadership Lab Career Workshops by CRA-W focused on graduate students, early professional and mid-career academics Grace Hopper Student Opportunity Lab where current students can explore career opportunities in academia and industry Grace Hopper Open Source Day is designed for participants to learn new skills or hone existing ones while working on a code-a-thon for humanity.
Thursday
The second day focuses on emerging technology trends and perennially important technology areas. It also offers opportunities to explore how you can hone key skills from interviewing to innovation. The highlights include: Satya Nadella (CEO, Microsoft) in conversation with Maria Klawe (President, Harvey Mudd College) Technical tracks on Gaming/Computer Graphics/Animation (GFX), Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Data Science, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and Security/Privacy are front and center. Technical Executive Forum, an exclusive event designed to bring together top technical executives from ABI’s Partner companies Senior Women in Computing Program is an experience designed for women technologists who are nearing the “C Suite” in their career advancement. Daniela Busse joins the It doesn’t have to be pink! Designing for women which will make people aware of technology design biases and educate attendees to ask questions or know what to look out for during the design process to have an inclusive design.
Friday
The final day continues the focus on technology developments while adding a huge dose of inspiration as we hear from award winners and end the conference with a party you won’t want to miss. The highlights include: A keynote address from Dr. Arati Prabhakar, Director of DARPA Technical tracks on Software Engineering, GFX, Wearable Computing, Mobile & Agile, Data Science, HCI, and Security/Privacy are featured on this day.
