Andrea Delgado-Olson is the founder of Native American Women in Computing, an Anita Borg Systers Community, and the Program Manager for Systers and GHC Communities. She is a member of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians of the Northern Sierra foothills of California. She collaborated with Google and Udacity in 2015-2016 to develop a course for the Android Basics Nanodegree. The course, Android Basics: Multiscreen Apps, uses Andrea’s native language, Miwok. The course was designed to be a tool to preserve the language from being lost. With these language preservation efforts, Andrea was invited to speak at the annual American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) conference on September 21-23, 2017. She is here to speak about and share her experiences and initiatives.
