Tal Niv is the Vice President of Legal & Policy at GitHub. In her role she is responsible for the legal, community moderation, and public policy teams — working to advocate with policy makers for balanced rules and regulations that promotes software and software developers’ ability to learn, build tools together, and innovate. Of particular pride is the teams’ work on the BEIPA, the Open Sourcing of GitHub’s Policies, and our work on the EU Copyright Directive, to name a few initiatives.
Tal has taught courses in Intellectual Property, Internet Law, and Patent Law at the University of Santa Clara Law School, UC Berkeley Legal Studies program, and Tel Aviv University law schools. Prior to this, Tal was a Google Policy Fellow at Creative Commons, and a product manager for Israeli startups.
