Safety & Security at GHC
At AnitaB.org, the safety and well-being of our community is our highest priority. We understand that recent external forces have raised concerns, and we want to assure all attendees that we are taking comprehensive measures to create a secure and welcoming environment at Grace Hopper Celebration 2025 in Chicago.
Onsite Safety & Security
- We are working closely with McCormick Place, our security partner, and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to monitor evolving conditions and ensure appropriate protective measures are in place.
- Our security plan includes controlled access points, credential checks, bag screening, CPD and trained security staff across all venues.
- We have designated rapid response and emergency management protocols in partnership with local authorities.
- A dedicated Safety & Security Command Center will be active throughout the event to coordinate real-time responses if needed.
- Attendees are asked to follow all security protocols and instructions from staff immediately should an emergency occur.
Travel & Attendee Guidance
- Follow all instructions from security and staff should an emergency occur.
- If you experience or witness concerning behavior, alert uniformed security staff immediately. You may also call the McCormick Place Security Hotline at 312-791-6060 or dial 911 in case of emergency.
- Carry a government-issued ID at all times and keep your conference badge visible while inside event spaces.
- For your safety, we advise removing your badge once you leave the venue each day.
- Allow extra travel time, as enhanced security screenings may occur at local transit hubs.
- Stay connected through the GHC mobile app and official AnitaB.org communications for real-time safety updates, alerts, or instructions.
Our Commitment
We remain committed to creating a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to fully participate. While we cannot control external forces, we are taking every precaution to safeguard our community and provide timely information to all participants.
