Janetth Infante is a sophomore studying computer science and informatics at Estrella Mountain Community College. Originally planning to major in fine arts, Janetth discovered computer science and fell in love. She has participated twice in an on-campus event called “Hermanas,” which is geared toward helping young women become interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). She is currently a student facilitator at the NASA Center for Success in Math and Science and provides one-on-one and group tutoring for students struggling in math. Her current academic goal is to pursue a master’s degree in computer science.
“Every time I attend [Hermanas], I take great pleasure in seeing how the girls get excited about learning and potentially getting engaged in the vast engineering field. It is a great feeling for me that I get the opportunity to inspire future women engineers.”
