vGHC is a celebration for the community, by the community. At AnitaB.org, we rely on the passion of our dedicated volunteers to make vGHC a success. Their voices help shape the conversations both at the venues and around the world. Their contributions help those who can’t attend in person experience vGHC from home. Notes are often used years later to remember specific topics and discussions. If you want to be a part of sharing the knowledge gained at vGHC, volunteer to be an official vGHC Community Blogger or Note Taker.
vGHC also offers three dedicated chances for our younger attendees to seek advice from mentors. Known as Speed Mentoring, our volunteer mentors discuss career paths, graduate schools, and personal aspirations with attendees in 10-minute focused conversations.

Bloggers and Note Takers
Bloggers and Note Takers are an imperative part of delivering the content of GHC to attendees seeking information about the Celebration. The hardest part about GHC can be scheduling. The content is so rich and it can be difficult to attend all the sessions and events you are interested in. Being a volunteer Bloggers or Note Taker gives insight into sessions that were missed by attendees who had scheduling conflicts, but really want to know key takeaways from sessions.
If you would like to be part of helping shape the largest conference for women technologists in the world and collaborate with peers from all over the world, then here is how you can contribute!

As Virtual Grace Hopper Celebration continues to grow and evolve, so does the mission of the Anita|Bees. In the past, the Anita|Bees Speed Mentoring session provided the opportunity for attendees to garner career knowledge and experience from industry and academia experts in their field. The Anita|Bees Speed Mentoring session continues to offer attendees the opportunity to create lasting mentoring relationships with women working in technical roles.
This year’s Speed Mentoring event has been updated to keep in step with the growth and scheduling changes at vGHC 21. Anita|Bees Speed Mentoring will be one two-hour-long session. The two-hour event will feature several 15-minute rounds in which attendees are matched with industry professionals, academic professionals, and successful graduate students by career level and area of interest that follow the defined GHC Tracks. Each mentee has the option of speaking with several different mentors over the course of several rounds – they do not, however, have the option of staying with the same mentor for more than one round. They are required to either seek out a new mentor after each round or leave the session altogether. This requirement allows for the greatest number of attendees to connect with the available mentors. In addition, the requirement encourages mentees to build a personal network of mentors. The 15-minute sessions are fluid and informal in that the discussions are driven by the mentees’ questions and concerns.
Industry professionals, members of academia, and outstanding graduates apply to serve as mentors. Anita|Bees committee members review each potential mentor’s application and come to a consensus on whether the applicant is suited to serve. In general, we are looking for more than just the person’s credentials. We are looking for the willingness to foster and maintain long-lasting relationships with mentees.
