Kate Lehman

Associate Director and Academic Researcher, UCLA Momentum

Kate Lehman is a social scientist interested in issues related to broadening participation in computing. In her current role as Associate Director and Academic Researcher for Momentum at UCLA, she manage a team of 12 graduate and undergraduate student researchers and direct mixed-methods research focused on efforts to recruit and retain more women and students of color in undergraduate computing. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change at UCLA where her dissertation focused on the experiences of undecided students in introductory computing courses. Her broader research interests include gender issues in higher education, women and underrepresented minority students in STEM fields (particularly computer science), and co-curricular learning experiences for STEM students. Prior to her work at UCLA, she held positions in student affairs at The Ohio State University and the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
