Patricia Bailey is a senior at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, working toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Her best experience so far in school was working with a team throughout the semester in software engineering. Patricia currently works at Northrop Grumman as a Precision Electro-Mechanical Assembler. She also works as a book editor on the side, the most recent book being A Children’s Illustrated History of Presidential Assassination.
“Computers have always been a part of our household, and my dad encouraged us to get to know them. Even with parents that encouraged us to follow our passions, I was still pushed away from what I wanted to do as I grew up. After entering the world of technology again with Northrop Grumman, and working with so many women there, I realized that I can be something more than a barista or a pharmacy tech. I can be accepted in the high-tech world of defense systems and I’m good at it. Why can’t I develop software? I totally can, and I will.”
