Rose Serafini is working towards a computer science degree at Vassar College. Rose originally did not want to study computer science, but after taking one course her freshman year, she fell in love. She feels empowered when solving a problem behind the computer. She is also a member of Vassar’s women’s basketball team and the student athlete advisory committee.
“I feel as if not enough women get exposure to computing early in life to consider it as an educational or career option. As a young girl, I was told I couldn’t play video games because they were ‘made for boys.’ Growing up, computers were always a ‘boy thing.’ This is a precedent I want to have a part in changing.”
