Kai is a fourth year Computer Science major pursuing a minor concentration in Astrophysics at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. She works as a volunteer technical contributor for SpaceML, a partner of NASA’s Frontier Development Lab. In this position, she currently is working on the NASA WorldView Satellite Image Search System Project and has experience presenting their work to a panel at NASA. She believes AI should be utilized in all fields of science since it is proven to make research advancements more efficient. In 2019, she won awards for her research in computing-based water quality monitoring approach in which she developed a prototype web application that utilizes neural networking to identify phytoplankton species. She is now involved in quantum computing research at the University of Florida. Kai is a strong believer in open-source software and hopes to continue creating and inspiring others to create software for the bettering of humankind.
