Thank you to all our TEF 19 Lightning Talk and Roundtable Discussions Speakers for their engaging and thought-provoking discussions. TEF 19 Participants engaged with their executive peers to dive deeper into topics, programs, and initiatives ranging from data, sourcing, product strategy, retention and advancement through an inclusive and intersectional lens.
The 2019 Technical Executive Forum (TEF) theme was Intentional. Inclusive. Intersectional. Building Inclusive Products & Services to Mirror the World We Live In. It focused on the importance of executive sponsorship through intentional, inclusive, and intersectional policies, programs, and products. The TEF program aligns closely with the AnitaB.org mission to envision a future where the people who imagine and build technology mirror the people and societies for whom they build it.
Note: Due to COVID-19 and its large impact on the company and community level, the TEF 19 Case Studies will be published on a rolling basis.
Inclusive Products with Data Science
The journey to building inclusive products starts with understanding the status quo and uncovering where we can do better. Easy access to high quality data — including socio-demographic data — is a central ingredient. At Coursera, data engineers collect, curate, standardize, and make available critical data to understand the status quo. This includes building demographic features such as gender into its core data lake.
