At GHC 16, Cisco ran a Snapchat contest in which recent graduates snapped the stories behind why they entered the tech field. The contest was a great success, with two of the top contestants even receiving internships at Cisco. Because the contest did so well, Cisco employees, who have already been using Snapchat as a way to promote their company, plan to use the app as a recruiting platform. “We’re going to tie our Snapchat channel more directly to filling jobs via some sort of contest or branding mechanism to help fill a particular position,” explained Macy Andrews, Cisco’s director for culture and global employer branding. Cisco hopes that this innovative and unconventional campaign will allow a larger audience to connect and engage with the company.
