In 1994, about 500 people attended the first Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), which promoted diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. Over the years, interest in both this conference and its mission spiked dramatically, with 15,000 people attending GHC last year. Despite the many recent strides towards diversity, activists worry about the effect the Trump administration will have on the tech industry. Tech companies have shifted their goals to address this issue, with some signing the Never Again pledge to oppose racism.
