PALO ALTO, CA, — January 15, 2014 – AnitaB.org (ABI), a non-profit organization focused on the advancement of women in computer science and engineering, announced today the Call for Participation for the 2014 Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) which takes place October 8-11, 2014 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
“Everywhere. Everyone.” is the theme for the 2014 Grace Hopper Celebration, an annual event where women technologists from all over the world gather to network, collaborate, and explore the latest technologies and celebrate the influence of women in computing. The event provides attendees with sessions covering technical topics from researchers and industry leaders, professional development sessions for attendees at all career levels, and, a career fair for aspiring undergraduate and graduate students.
The 2014 event will build upon the success of this past year’s GHC where over 4,750 people from 53 different countries, including 1,900 students studying engineering and computer science, 420 universities, 305 leading tech companies, and dozens of representatives from research labs and non profits all participated.
“The Grace Hopper Celebration highlights extraordinary women who are successful trailblazers in the technology industry,” said Telle Whitney, President and CEO. “Speakers at GHC are from all walks of life, have great, inspirational stories to share, and are thought leaders in computing.”
Submissions are desired from areas of technology and professional development. Presenters are encouraged to submit proposals on new technology developments in the areas of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Internet of Things/Wearable computing, Software Engineering, Data Science, Security, and Gaming/Computer Graphics/Animation (GFX). These important areas are making technology ubiquitous and changing people’s daily lives, fitting with this year’s “Everywhere. Everyone.” conference theme.
