Ross Smith is Director of Engineering at Microsoft, where he runs Skype customer feedback and data insights. Ross is a Fellow and blogger for the Royal Society of the Arts. Author of The Practical Guide to Defect Prevention, Ross holds six patents. He is a member of the Leadership Council for AnitaB.org, and co-chair for Grace Hopper Celebration D&I Track.
Ross was part of “male ally” panel discussions at the IEEE Women in Technology and National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT) Summit and TechCrunch. He works with iUrbanTeen and Native Americans at Microsoft.
Ross developed 42projects to promote cultural change, and works with Skype in the Classroom program. He was invited to the White House for a discussion on women in STEM, and was a Keynote speaker for the ARTBA’s TransovaIon 2014.
The work of his teams have been mentioned in Forbes, The Economist, the Wall Street Journal, PSFK, the American Journal of Play, Harvard Business Review, and the London School of Business. He is a blogger for SHRM and has worked on Skype Translator.
