Zahra Ashktorab is a second year PhD student studying information science at University of Maryland, College Park. She has interned at IBM, the National Institutes of Health, the Smithsonian Institution, and Data Science for Social Good. Zahra is interested in cyber bullying detection, and making predictions and recommendations based on available social media data, and user experience evaluation.
“My education in computer science has opened many doors for me, and it has allowed me to travel and participate in research that I would not have been able to if I had given up when I was the only girl in some of my undergraduate classes.”
