General registration for the 2018 Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC 18) will open on July 11 at 9 a.m. PT, and we expect to sell out very quickly. This year, we estimate a total of 20,000 people will attend GHC, making this our biggest celebration yet.
Among those attending the celebration are our GHC 18 Scholars, Hoppers, and Speakers, who received preregistration opportunities from AnitaB.org during these past few weeks. We additionally preregistered members of our academic communities as well as representatives of our sponsor organizations. As part of our commitment to making the Grace Hopper Celebration a diverse and inclusive experience, we also provided early registration opportunities and complimentary registrations to women from underrepresented minority groups.
We hope you’ll be able to join us at GHC 18, too! To help GHC 18 general registration run smoothly, we are rolling out a new registration process to alleviate some of the issues our community has experienced in recent years. This year, when you click the Register button, you’ll enter the registration queue. At that time, you’ll receive a message telling you that you’re in line for the GHC registration site, along with a count of the number of people ahead of you and a progress meter. Make sure not to click the Register button again or you will lose your place in the queue! If you open a second browser window or tab, you will restart the process and lose your initial place in the queue.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to secure a GHC 18 registration as we have a limited number of tickets. We would love to accommodate everyone who wants to attend, but as the celebration grows, we must balance increased demand with our commitment to deliver a consistently high-quality experience for a diverse group of GHC attendees.
However, there’s no need to worry about missing out on all the fun — there are still plenty of ways you can take part in GHC. Our AnitaB.org Community Locals will be hosting GHC 18 viewing parties in cities around the world. You’ll be able to network with other women technologists, and watch and discuss videos from the celebration.
AnitaB.org will also livestream the keynote sessions, so you can watch our inspiring main stage speakers and honorees live. You’ll also be able to follow the action via the #GHC18 hashtag on Twitter and Instagram. And, once GHC 18 has ended, the Systers community will provide links to blog posts, session recaps, and slides. Subscribe to the GHC General Newsletter to get all of the latest information.
We hope you’re as excited for GHC 18 as we are! Whether you’re joining us in person or connecting with us remotely, it’s sure to be a celebration you won’t forget.
