Demand for Grace Hopper Celebration Reaches New High

Update: As of August 10, all registrations are sold out.

Demand for participation in the GHC has never been higher –  to say that GHC’s growth has skyrocketed is an understatement. At the AnitaB.org (ABI), we are truly inspired by our community’s ongoing enthusiasm and its commitment to advancing women in technology.

Last year, GHC sold out within a week of opening registration, and this year, we experienced the same overwhelming demand. As of July 13, 2016, general registrations for GHC 16 will be available with a registration link only. (What’s a registration link? Check our FAQs for answers to this and other common questions). Academic registrations for students and faculty remain open.

This year, we rolled out a new registration system which gives us real-time insight into how many tickets are available for various groups during registration. Based on that information and extremely high demand, we will not be maintaining a waitlist for GHC 16.

For those of you who were unable to secure a spot at GHC 16, we understand your disappointment. We would love to accommodate everyone who wants to attend GHC, but as the conference has grown in recent years — attendance jumped from 4,500 in 2013 to over 15,000 in 2016 — AnitaB.org must balance this increased demand with our commitment to deliver a consistently high-quality experience for GHC attendees. To ensure a great experience for all attendees and to respect the organizational capacity of AnitaB.org, as well as safety, facility and logistical considerations, we are unable to expand the capacity of GHC 16.

Experience GHC All Around the World

But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the exciting action happening on the ground in Houston. We’ve created ways for you to take part in the inspiration and connection found at GHC right in your own local communities. Last year, we introduced GHC Viewing Parties through ABI.Local, our network of local communities that connects women technologists and allies around the world. These viewing parties were a big hit, and we’re excited to offer this opportunity to experience GHC again. Check the ABI.Local website in September for information about hosting and attending these inspiring gatherings.

AnitaB.org will also Livestream the keynote sessions from GHC 16 so viewers around the world can watch these inspiring speakers present live. The GHC website will soon have a link to the Livestream!

A Note of Thanks

Community volunteers have been crucial to the success of GHC, and presenting this inspiring event would be impossible without our volunteers’ willingness to roll up their sleeves to help the AnitaB.org staff plan and execute these events. We’d like to express our deepest thanks to the dozens of committee members and community volunteers who reviewed GHC session proposals, reviewed GHC scholarship applications and dedicated hours of their time to help make GHC such a memorable and inspiring experience for thousands of women technologists around the world.
