Chao Charity Mbogo, a researcher and lecturer of computer science at Kenya Methodist University, was surprised by just how many students wanted to join her mentorship program last year. The students wanted to improve their professional development, innovation skills, and community involvement, and Chao made sure to tailor her program to meet their needs. Once the students gained these skills, they also gained the confidence to apply for scholarships. Nyariak Deng‘ even became the university’s first-ever student to attend the 2016 Grace Hopper Conference on a full scholarship from AnitaB.org.
