Looking for ways to give back to the tech community? Become a GHC 18 volunteer! Each year, our volunteers help ensure GHC is a success by supporting AnitaB.org and our GHC attendees in various ways. Seize this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women technologists from around the world.
Becoming a mentor for Open Source Day (OSD) is just one way you can volunteer at GHC. OSD is day-long hackathon that lets participants of all levels use open source software (OSS) to develop humanitarian projects. This year’s OSD will occur on September 27, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
OSD Mentors will work with one of our six participating organizations on a unique open source project, and will guide their group members to help them create a working prototype for that project. These projects are aimed at solving real world problems and improving the world we live in. You can learn more about this year’s participating organizations and projects here.
Mentors will not only get to work on these inspiring projects, but will also get the chance to help our OSD participants build their confidence. OSD participants come from all skill levels and backgrounds, with some having little to no experience with OSS at all. Help them gain new skills and provide them with the encouragement they need to succeed well after the hackathon ends.
There are plenty of other volunteer opportunities at GHC as well, including speed mentoring, judging posters for the ACM Student Research Competition, and blogging or note taking. Please note that you must already be registered for GHC 18 in order to sign up as an onsite volunteer. If you are a remote volunteer for online sessions, you do not need to register.
Help us in our mission to support women technologists. Sign up as a GHC 18 volunteer today.
