Megan Harwell is pursuing a master’s degree in information technology at the University of North Carolina Charlotte and is expecting to graduate this December. She is currently working at the Department of Justice, carrying out research concerning computer intrusion and cyber fraud criminal investigations. She is also a member of the STARS (Students & Technology in Academia, Research & Service) Student Organization, whose mission it is to encourage participation in computing among women and minorities. She is passionate about computing and wants to help other students become interested in computing as well.
“Many students realize the impact of computing in all kinds of career paths, but oftentimes don’t have the opportunity to explore all it has to offer. [STARS] gives these students—from many majors, including computer science—the opportunity to see exactly how much of an impact technology has in our lives.”
