Ying Lu

Ying Lu is a third-year PhD student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She received a bachelor’s degree in theoretical and applied mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China. Ying has published and coauthored papers on IROS, ASME, VRIPHYS and CanCNSM. She attended the 2013 Grace Hopper Celebration at Minneapolis, where she received an internship opportunity.

“I thought by doing research I would become a great scientist like Einstein or Newton; however, life is not that easy. Instead, I try to set small goals every week and achieve those goals. This is minor compared to making famous discoveries, but achieving these small goals makes me happy.”
