Sally Al Khamees

Sally Al Khamees, an Iraqi refugee, is studying computer science at Duke University, where she transferred from the American University of Iraq AUIS. She is currently working on a project called “Tact, Touch, and Proprioception” with the Bass Connections Brain and Society at Duke University. Sally also worked as a freelance web designer for a non-profit organization called Sisters in Hoops, situated in Jordan. One of Sally’s biggest role models is Madame Curie because she was a trailblazer for women in her field of work.


“To me, women in computer science today are like Madame Curie was. They pave the way for future generations of women to pursue an evolving field of science.”
