Dr. Howard is a gifted robotics researcher, teacher, mentor, and community leader, who has inspired and encouraged countless underrepresented students in engineering and science. Her academic career is highlighted by her focus on robots that must interact with and in a human-centered world and her extensive outreach, mentoring, teaching, and research activities. Currently, Dr. Howard is the Motorola Foundation Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Techno logy. She also serves as the Associate Director of Research for the Georgia Tech Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. Prior to that, she served as Chair of the multidisciplinary Robotics Ph.D. program at Georgia Tech for three years from 2010-2013. From 1993-2005, Dr. Howard was also a robotics researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
