Kathryn Finney

The Social Impact ABIE Award recognizes those who have made a positive impact on women, technology, and society. This year’s winner is Kathryn Finney, a tech entrepreneur, social media visionary, investor and writer.

Kathryn is the Managing Director of digitalundivided (DID), whose mission is to foster economic growth and empowerment in communities through training and supporting Black and Latina women entrepreneurs using technology as a tool. DID runs the BIG Innovation Center in Atlanta, home to the BIG accelerator program for startups founded by Black and Latina Founders. DID’s pioneering research, “#ProjectDiane”, was widely discussed and covered in Forbes, CNN, Fast Company and other media outlets for quantifying the state of Black women and tech entrepreneurship and is impacting policy from state houses to the White House. Prior to DID, Kathryn was the Editor-At-Large at BlogHer, which she joined after selling her online media company.

Kathryn is also a General Partner at the Harriet Fund, the first pre-seed venture fund focused on investing in high potential Black and Latina women-led startups and the founder of the Harriet Angels Syndicate, an angel investment syndicate focused on providing the “first” investment to exceptional Black and Latina women founders.

A lifelong builder of women-centered communities, Kathryn received the Champion of Change Award from the White House and is a 2016 Echoing Green Fellow. She was included in Marie Claire’s list of 10 Women to Watch, was inducted into Spelman College’s “Game Changers Academy.”, and was honored by Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer with the “Kathryn Finney Appreciation Day.”
